What am I missing for $2,500.00 ? How about if I just write Mickey Mantle on a drink coaster and send it in for grading? No image of the Mick anywhere but his name printed on the signage ......

OMG, I can smell that hotel room from here... It reeks of the 60s.

And it’s awesome. Mick can make a Holiday Inn 2500 for a room.
1992 Collectors Edge Football case?
It’s a great item imo.
I collect all Mick ephemera from the Joplin Holiday Inn graded or not. To each their own I guess. The postcards without Mantle’s image, especially the long horizontal format one, can be much more difficult to find in any condition.
Just a few below...
Just when I thought this board was running out of new topics, this thread restored my faith.
bswhiten- I love those cards.
those coasters are really cool!

Dang, those are some cool items!!
Do you know if they had any restaurant china? Another of my favorites to collect is particular restaurant/hotel china, and if there was some Mickey Mantle china floating around out there it would be super cool!

If they had restaurant china I do not know about it... They had about everything else
They do.
You’ll occasionally see bowls and plates pop up from time to time from the Holiday Inn in Joplin and from his other two namesake locations - Mickey Mantle’s Country Cookin’ and Mickey Mantle’s in NYC.

This item is part of the PSA Set Registry Mickey Mantle Master Set. It used to be (and near as I can tell, still is) a fairly competitive set for collectors. Top Pop cards carry a great premium in general and 10s even more so. Anyone who has a set on the Registry knows it can be tough to make upward moves and sometimes the only way is by paying up for high grade example of some of the more peripheral items when the mainstream ones reach price points that are unattainable.

There’s actually a few different items from that specific Holiday Inn in Joplin. (See @bswhiten )Mickey was a part owner and lent his name to it. The other owner was a great businessman and friend to Mickey, who described it as the ‘only successful business I ever had a part of’ and I believe the same guy was the owner of the Country Cookin’ restaurant (not sure of this). They did well over the years and were open a long time. Mickey met this guy when he was a young ball player for the Joplin Miners, his last stop before the bigs.

Youngman had some cool zippo lighters made that he handed out:
@maddux69 I have that coaster too. I would guess $150 or so.
