Type Shield Nickel Unc or proof?

In your opinion what coin would have a better eye appeal. A PCGS MS 65 CAC or a Pcgs PF 65? I first wanted a MS65 but realized that the PF65 was about the same price so I placed a bid late at night for what I thought was a proof coin. I read the email confirmation the next day and I had bid on the MS 65 CAC.

It depends on the coin, not all 65's are alike. If the proof has some frost, my like does up but if it has a few small dark spots by like goes down. If the uncirculated has some attractive toning, my like goes up, but if it has prominent die clash and late die state, my like goes down.
What is your preference? MS or PR … I would want some of both in a type set.
For me, it depends on the coin.... which one 'pops' to my aesthetic senses.... Since I do not sell, the CAC approval (while nice) is not necessary...Cheers, RickO
Don't decide ahead of time. Let the right coin do the talking.

Grade and eye-appeal are not the same. Is the coin appealing to you? Is the coin appealing to "the market"? If the coin you bid on has eye appeal just be happy if you win it as it already has a PCGS holder and a "sticker".
Mark, I like this answer, and is what I did, ending up with a proof. What do you think about having a mixed proof/circulation strike type set?
Glad to hear it and I think that collectors should allow themselves the freedom to include whatever they wish in their sets/collections.
One suggestion that I have made several times over the years is "Don't be a slave to your collecting". If for any reason, you don't want to include a particular coin in your set, don't. And that's regardless of whether there is a slot in an album for it, it's part of a registry set or it's a key date, etc.

I did not win this bid. I will now look for a PF 65.
