Blemish free, fully struck, deep mirrors and frosted devices. MS68DCAM? 15K coin in the right holder.

Surfaces appear to be messed with. Possible dip haze. See around the Eagle, the cloudiness between eagles wings & wreath, above the head and around IGWT as well as below AM... If so, it most likely wont get DMPL even if deserving and may not grade at all.

Hopefully it's not dip haze and just PVC haze that can be effectively removed with an acetone bath

    The more you VAM..

Too much chatter on her neck for a 68....but looks like a nice 67. PL for sure but got my fingers crossed for a DMPL.

I can’t get to 67 (and probably not 66), due to the flaws on the neck. And if it is deserving of DPL, I can’t tell from the images.
Edited to add - looking at the images again, I think MS65 would be the maximum grade the coin could achieve.

Definitely some questionable areas on the neck and below it.... and below the wing on the reverse....First impression, from the pictures is that it is a nice coin... then those details on further review...Let us know what transpires if you submit it. Cheers, RickO

The reverse has some haze as Chris mentioned that may keep it out of DMPL territory. First obverse image has me at MS65 tops.

It's a nice coin, but MS65 is generous.

64/65 PL at best based on photos.

Definitely needs a soak before submission in my opinion.

    Nice Morgan!

The fields are not clear and reflective enough to receive the PL or DMPL designation from PCGS.
    I like it as a 64+

Omg I feel so raped,,, I got an MS63 on this Morgan,,, no + no PL and it is in waaay better than fkin 63

And I've seen many on Ebay that are 63 dmpl that look horrible in comparison

Please don't feel too bad, feel educated if anything. The last image really shows the coin, and no offense, its a fair grade in my opinion. Its just too busy on her face and in front of her face. Most if not all of us have experienced grading disappointment. Welcome to the club.🙂

To me it looks semi-PL, still nice.
I think the 63 dmpl grade on the last one pictured above is a gift(read: curse)

You should see the 1916 dime I just got back as a 64FB :(

True, look at the new westpoint lowell quarters they graded. At 66 they look terrible for an ultra modern in 66,, jus seems to be getting a lil biased

I'll probably make a post asking the forum to help me understand the grade. Need to take a few photos of it since I didn't spring for imaging on that order.

There is a lot of friction marks on the cheek and neck. I say 63 is about right although it looks like it could have gotten a PL.

There is no "standard" for PL or DMPL or other such surface descriptions. A standard would be easy to design and implement --

I watched a pcgs grading 101 video on YouTube that's stated a pl has a clear reflectivity at 3 inches and a dmpl has one a 6 or further, I've held this at arms length and it's still reflective, I could shave in this Morgan lol

Man even a 63 + I would've agreed with for sure,, but I dont think they would even upgrade me

Define "clear." What light source? What viewing angle? What is being reflected? On and on -- there is no standard.

In a prior thread on this subject a very simple, easy to implement standard was proposed. Not a wiggle resulted from any TPG or other. The money part of coin collecting does not really want stable standards and consistency. A long of $$$ is made through confusion and instability as collectors and dealers try to out-guess the current day's version.

Unfortunate, I remember seeing the original post and thinking 64PL max, you could always wait and resubmit it latter. What's the saying; if the grade doesn't fit you must resubmit; lol.

SilverEagle420 - I'm not attempting to be obstinate or obstructive, but reality is that without a clear, public definition and the means to make repeated, objective measurements, the opinion of any TPG will vary from one day to the next. This might not be intentional, but it happens and will continue to happen until TPGs take a more disciplined, scientific approach to developing their attributions.
