UPS Truck Collision: Over 1000 packages spewed along highway

Well I hope your coins were packed right for transit. Sometimes they're not and shake around a bit. I've seen some of you post new deliveries with coins popped out of their seating. Just a couple weeks ago, I've had a ripped Apollo lithograph due to haphazard delivery damage. Well last night a UPS truck out of Chelmsford Massachusetts collided with another tractor trailer truck on 495. Nobody seriously hurt, but three people were sent to the local hospital. Over 1000 packages were spewed along the highway, ripped, crushed, flattened...what a package nightmare!!!! If you had a coin arriving this week, I hope the bubblewrap and peanuts protected it!!! Chelmsford is a major UPS delivery hub just North of Boston.

I think I see my box, under the wheel...
Whew, my delivery from the NE area has already left the NE area.
OMG, how terrible !!!
How many people use UPS ground to ship coins? I expect very few.
I have a coin in that area to be delivered, but I used USPS so I hope they don't share trucks.
Wow... what a nightmare....There will be disappointed people due to this mess....Cheers, RickO
It's a possibility! > @Onastone said:
Tow truck drivers looking thru boxes for the best finds.
the next scan on these packages will be "scattered on highway"

Right down the street from me
Mint does.
I expect so. They'd likely fill a whole truck with just their stuff and their stuff is for the most part readily replaceable.
When I was working for Coin World back in the 70's, we received a #10 envelope, Registered, in a plastic pouch with a note from the Post Office "Run over by an airplane at the Columbus, Ohio airport" or something like that. I guess an entire mail pouch had ended up on the runway and a plane hit it.
The envelope was folded in half a little bit off from center. I opened it with witnesses and inside was a cardboard Saf-T-Mailr, I opened that up and there was a Bust Dollar inside. Well, the fold had missed the coin (I checked, it did not rock) and everything was OK.
UPS will probably indicate that all involved packages were "delivered to doorstep" anyway, if it's anything like the service and false reports I get on occasion................
And don't forget, they'll add a little sticker saying YOUR PACKAGE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US!
