ordered $10,000 worth of halve to sort through for 40% & 90% coins.
What’s the most you’ve ordered in your search?

$500
With those odds you should end up with some serious silver. On the other hand... where will you exchange it all? Back to the bank?
That is an impressive roll search!

I hope you asked him what he found?
I did but mum is the word.
He bought several rolls of mercs from me.
For some strange reason, another yuppie bought a lot of mercs too, hmm, hmm, hmm.
Back in 1978 I bought 10 bags of Wheaties for $65/bag. After I searched through
everything I kept three roll sets of 1940-58 and sold most of the rest of the 1940+
rolls/partial rolls. There were about 3500 pieces pre 1940 that I kept. No Steel Cents.
I did approx $200,000K in halves in a years period during the recession. Folks were cashing in their piggy banks and savings to make ends meet. I pulled some serious silver out at face value of the coins.
I once bought about $12K in 1921 BU Morgans listed on ebay.
The Ebay seller took forever to ship... had to cancel.
He didn't even own the Morgans, he said he did not expect such a big order.

I spoke to a fellow yesterday that gets $2000 worth of halves each week to search.... I do not have that kind of dedication.... He does find silver though.... Cheers, RickO
Guy came in fri that checks rolls, found 132.00 in 40% this week!
clearly that's an exception, because he told me there have been times when he gets 500 worth and only get a couple
I was doing about 5k a week for a while...best box had about 200 90%, that was the exception. I was averaging about 4 silver coins a box and can search a box in 5 minutes. Returning them is the key - I had a bank that would take them in 1k bags and deposited them directly into my account. I would just carry in the bags and hear all sorts of funny comments from other customers but never had a problem. It would take about 5 minutes to make the deposit. The bank I deposited them used a different service then the bank that gave me the boxes. The silver let up after a few years and I cut back but I still grab a box or two for the fun of it.
