    Looks like it could be shellac and that's what is misleading you on the alleged doubling

    It had me wondering, so I just took the coin down to my local paint store. I had two employees check the coin for shellac, they both said that coin does not have any shellac on it at all.

    There is a coating of something on the cent.

    You took the cent to a paint store? That was... innovative. ;)

    It definitely has some kind of resin on it. YOu need smarter hardware workers, if you actually visited any. It is clearly present between the numbers and letters and near the raised rim.

    There is no doubling. It is worth 3 or 4 cents.

    Just don't go to your local coin store and ask for paint thinner....... they might think you have been sniffin' too much already. :D

    Please stop with the alts. The posting pattern is as easy to see as an overflowing irrigation ditch in the Mojave.
