Used to be (pre 1980 big melt) that bullion value was talked of as AGV or "bullion value" etc.
Now we are cool as heck and quip out, "AT MELT!"
Hmmmm..... when did that start?

I do not understand the question.
What did AGV stand for ?

no, not cool at all.
"Actual Gold Value" or something like that.
Or not.
Lately, when trying to sell silver and gold bullion coins to dealers they don't even say "at melt" any more... so I tuess it's not uber cool around here.
Instead, it's all about how much back they are willing to pay, as in how many dollars below the melt value they are offering.

It's kinda cool but not nearly as cool and saying "uber.....".

Whereas, the party of the first part states in relation to an object, "at melt" intending to convey the understanding that the price has no premium over the bullion value of the object, if the party of the second part states, "oh, you mean 'at melt" then the party of the second part shall be regarded as a very savvy person.
PM for more clarification.
If you dare.
At bullion value
At melt
At spot
My cooiness is exceeded only by my hotness....Or so says my wife... And I did not even ask if I was 'uber' cool... Cheers, RickO
As cool as a paddy melt for a vegan.
To say 'at melt' is not Uber cool ... but it may give you a Lyft to say it.

ricko might be to sexy for his hotness/coolness or some do hickey like that. just saying
this is power-English reasoning in reverse. changing Garbage Man to Sanitary Engineer implies power because there are more syllables in the latter(and it sounds Educated!). going from AGV, three syllables, down to melt with one syllable makes more sense.
Meh .... like SPOT better and UBER tis N dat is overrated IMHO
Hey Aloha @Keets .... nice seeing you around 'cause some thought you were gone for good

I don't know. It's been at least 10 years that I've been hearing people refer to melt value on bullion. It's hardly a bastardization of things because even the word bullion has origins in the word melt/boil. I swear if I told the average person I collected bullion, they'd think I collected beef stock.
