Proof 1938 Jefferson Nickel Framed With Sculptor's Signature
1938 5C Proof Jefferson Nickel in Felix Schlag Frame. The famous limited issue of 150 framed proof Jefferson nickels with artist's signature. The proof nickel shows only modest patina. Below the nickel, captioned PROOF JEFFERSON / NICKEL 1938, text below, with notary seal of Paul M. Wagner to left: UPON REQUEST / FELIX SCHLAG, DESIGNER / OF THIS COIN HAS CONSEN- / TED TO SIGN 150 PROOF / JEFFERSON NICKELS [symbol] OF / WHICH THE COIN ABOVE / IS NUMBER 123 [symbol] SWORN / TO BEFORE ME THIS 29TH / DAY OF SEPTEMB. Me thinks Felix did not personally sign this coin folder/book.
I own #132 of the 150 framed proofs. The silver signature on the whitman folder is identical to the notarized signature on the framed proof.
And the affirmation on the last page from the president of the Owassa (Felix's home town) penny collectors is not somthing that will be forged.

Based on what?
I apologize for the delay. Some relatives dropped in.
On the 150 plaques he made or had someone make for him, all the signitures look exactly the same. Click on this link to see those sigs http://www.felixschlag.com/gallery
And the color of the posted album's signature give me pause. But once seen up close will tell if it's handwriting.

Forgot to add; Felix Schlag also had collections assembled and likely signed and numerated but they were also leather bound. At one time I was aware of who had the #1 set but can't remember.

Click on the link you provided, and just check the top serif on the "F" in Felix.
There was a reason that he had these 150 signatures notarized, he knew that 80 years later that there would be doubters.
Each is a unique signature, but clearly made by the same hand.
This link is great. It provides evidence that they are individually signed. The shape and placement is different, while size and style is mostly consistent. The flourish or top of F is biggest giveaway and the placement of the S in Schlag below the E of Cent is different in each
He signed more than those 150 autographs in his lifetime. Those plaques are a good match but others I found on the internet were as good or even better.
The plaques were signed with a fountain pen in 1939, while the folder was signed with a paint pen in 1962. A paint pen can be a challenge to use (actual paint flows from the tip, not ink). He did a remarkably good job especially considering the pen he was was using.
I had stumbled upon that site. It has some remarkable information from FS himself about those plaques, how they got distributed, and what they sold for. I think the site owner is also trying to track known plaques.
Once AR gets the folder, maybe the FS site would be interested in photos...

Edit: I poked around on the interweb and found some other examples of his signature, and the silver paint pen signature in the folder is a good match.
