Numismatic March Madness GIVEAWAY and Tournament!
As we approach March Madness, I think it appropriate that on these forums we have a version of our own - numismatic March Madness!
The rules are simple. From now until April 8, on the dates listed below, voting will take place. In each round, you choose which coin should win! It doesn't matter why you chose that coin - maybe you like the design, maybe it has a cool name, or maybe you just hate the other coin. Whatever coin receives the most votes proceeds to the next round until we reach the championship on April 8! Here is the bracket of coins I have randomly paired together:
The dates of each round are as follows:
March 10
March 15
March 16
March 17
March 18
March 22
March 23
March 24
March 25
March 29
March 30
March 31
April 1
April 5
April 6
April 7
April 8
Look for voting on each of these dates!
So, this post is Round 1: the powerhouse Morgan Dollar versus the beautiful Walking Liberty Half Dollar! Who will win? You decide!
ADDITIONALLY: Comment below who you think will win the entire tournament before March 15 and if you are correctly then you will be entered in a random giveaway for a one ounce silver round! Get your guesses in! (Please only guess once, or you will be disqualified)

Guessing the Buffalo.
The Morgan Dollar has a huge following. It will win this contest if all of the Morgan Dollar dealers and collectors vote.
Tough top bracket!!
Im going to roll with the buffalo nickel to upset the Morgan dollar in the semi's and beat the Oregon commem in OT, LOL!
Flowing hair dollar for whole tournament
Flowing hair dollar wins the dance.
Morgan Dollar
The Buffalo Nickel
I’ll give it a shot
I think the Saint Gaudens $20 will win it all.
It is interesting that the Lincoln Cent and State Quarters didn’t make the cut.
I'm going with the Flowing Hair $, with a last second bucket over the $20 Saint.
Louis Armstrong
By the way, I lost 10 pounds (I wish!) trying to figure out who'd win between the Morgan and the Walker...I love them both!

Flowing hair dollar. Beautiful, early US coin. Thanks for the interesting competition!
Always buying nice toned coins! Searching for a low grade 1873 Arrows DDO Dime and 1842-O Small Date Quarter.
$20 Saint.
Yep, I tried to pick a variety of coins - I skipped on the State Quarters specifically because of how many different designs they have. The Wyoming is so much different than the Washington, for example.

$3 gold for the win
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Fugio to take it all. Can’t be beaten.
Walking Liberty for the win.
I have to go with the Flowing Hair Dollar for the win, even though I'm voting for the Pine Tree every chance I get.

St. Gaudens double eagle for the championship!
witty quote goes here
way to shake things up!
I am guessing the Buffalo nickel takes it
I would have guessed the Morgan Dollar would have been a number 1 seed and would have been winning by a huge margin...
Time to bust up those brackets!
Go WLH!!!
Edited to add that it'll be the St. Gaudens $20 Double Eagle that will be cutting down the nets in April!

Morgan Dollars were the workhorse of the economy back in the day. The wagon wheel will always be a favorite and was used more than the Walking Liberty Half Dollar...and do I dare mention the colors that the Morgan's can be found in? Not so much the Walkers.

Flowing hair Dollar takes it all.
No Mercury Dime anywhere in the brackets !?!
I would think that the Winged Liberty would make the final 16.
My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.
Sorry if I disappointed you If you want to enter the giveaway, simply say what coin you think will win it all.

That is a gorgeous coin! Does that mean for the giveaway you are guessing the Morgan dollar will be the champion?

Pine Tree Shilling for the win!
Thanks for the chance! Unusual giveaway, but cool.
I'll pick my all-time MVP, the Morgan Silver Dollar
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I voted Morgan with Saint to win it all.

I voted for the Walking liberty for a couple reasons it’s design is used one of the biggest US coins. It was part of the most beautiful time for coins which include the buffalo, mercury and standing liberty. It is was also used during the World Wars.
im in the walker half camp as well
This is more of a final four match up than a first round game! Very close one!

Flawed brackets. No Stander or Merc Dime. Looks like a ESPN bracket that is bias to the SEC or East Coast.
Ken
Fun idea. I will guess Flowing Hair dollar for the end.
The Pine Tree is going to be the winner
