First ever ebay feedback problelen. ENDS AS A SUCCESS STORY.

CommemKingCommemKing Posts: 2,202 ✭✭✭✭✭

I recently sold a 2000 Fleer Impact Tom Brady Rookie Card raw on ebay with no returns listed and clear photos. The sale ended last Thursday and I sent the card out yesterday (Saturday) and left positive feedback for fast payment. Well, Today (Sunday) I received an neutral feedback from the buyer that the card is a reprint and he wants a return. So, I check the USPS tracking and the card is sitting in Indianapolis at the USPS site. He hasn't even got the card yet. I am really pissed. I have been a ebay member since 1999 and have over an 800 rating at 100% positive. Never and neutral or a negative. Now this fool, with a total of 7 feedbacks, neutrals me. I know its not a big deal to most, but I don't want a neutral and Im certainly not allowing him to return the card. Its 100% authentic and had clear pics. I think Im going to report him to ebay with a photoshoot of my USPS tracking info. What shall I do?

Try to contact buyer before doing anything. He might have made a mistake in giving you the feedback.

  • First, contact the buyer to see if he made a mistake.

If that doesn't work, call eBay and explain the situation... They should remove the feedback.

By the way, the buyer CAN return the card even if you say you don't accept returns... All he has to do is claim it's 'not as described' and send it back to you.

Why would I return it? It was a fair sale and this buyer is clearly jacking me around. I tried contacting the buyer with no response yet.

  • ElvisPElvisP Posts: 1,066 ✭✭✭

That's just the way it is. You can say no returns but it doesn;t mean anything. If a buyer wants to return something there is nothing you can do, Buyer is always right in the eyes of ebay.

  • CommemKingCommemKing Posts: 2,202 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not if he's asking for a return before he has even received possession of the card.

It’s not up to you. It’s the eBay buyer protection policy. Otherwise, there’s no accountability for those that do sell fakes. So 99% of the time, eBay sides with the buyer.

I would screen cap with times and dates (put that days newspaper in the photo) that he has not received it and offered feedback.

I hate to say it but there’s a decent chance the card is in the wind at this point. So create evidence and a paper trail staring as soon as possible - flag it and notify your concerns with eBay - so as to not have to also issue the refund as well.

Hasn’t happened to me personally but have heard a buddy detail to me a similar episode when I asked why low feedback buyers can be blocked. He got burned on a ‘90 UD Griffey 10 sale. Lost both card and money initially but got the money back after some headaches...

If this buyer truly did leave a neutral before he got the card. I think the best case scenario is to accept the return (as was already stated, you have to accept even if you say no returns) and hope to get the card back in the same condition you sent it. Price to pay on eBay. It only takes one crazy buyer...

But yes, I would fight with eBay to get the feedback removed.

Well that sucks. For the most part new buyers are great but some are up to no good. At least you did not get scammed for 2k like I did with a empty box buyer.

In 10 years, I still only have about 250 transactions and most are buys. So every once in a while early on, I was forced to ‘ask persmission’ to bid on items.

When you’re on the up and up, the nefariousness needs to be explained; we don’t think that way.

Good luck - I hope it’s all just a mistake but prepare for the worst now just in case. I don’t collect football but I know ‘2000’, ‘Brady’ and ‘card’ usually also has a decent price attached.

if he hasn't even taken delivery of it, call Ebay and have them remove the feedback. you can prove proably that the item is as described, so you may win a case against him if you refuse the return. check current sales of the same card, maybe he picked up another for a better price. I'm sure leaving premature feedback will not look good to Ebay and may hurt his attempts to return as NAD, especially if he hasn't even had it delivered yet. that's just stupid.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have noticed there are a crapton of fake Brady rookies listed as "reprints". These are all illegally reprinted and ebay, as far as I know, isnt doing anything about it. Used to be these cards were removed quickly and generally only sold by low feedback sellers and now it seems like theyre being sold by higher feedback (2000+) sellers. Just my opinion, but if anyone sells these, they are complete scum.

Is there any way to definitively tell if the card is a reprint or not? I just looked up a few reprints on ebay and they look exactly like the real thing. I have had my Brady for several years, so Im sure its real, but certainly don't want to be selling a fake.

Well the buyers intent is pretty damn clear with this feedback. He was planning to claim item not as described, force eBay to allow him to ship it back and ship back to you a reprint in place of your real card. (assuming he doesn't respond ASAP to you saying oh hell that was for someone else I purchased from and not you)

You may have lucked out in the fact that he left this feedback before the card has been delivered and you may be able to get an eBay rep who handles escalations to now rule in your favor when this scam starts to play all the way out thanks to the premature feedback. Does eBay still allow for you to search based on a buyer what other auctions they have recently won or BINs they have purchased? Wouldn't be shocked if he has done this already to a few other sellers. If the search thing doesn't work what does feedback left for others he has purchased from look like?

Absolutely, KILL IT AT THE POST OFFICE, all you are going to get back is HIS REPRINTED BRADY! The guy is a scammer. He'll get your product and switch it with the reprint

this guy did some major damage, leaving bad feedback. most important thing is to get feedback removed, it will hurt your future sales, at least it was a low dollar rookie card and not a Tom Brady 2000 Contenders Rookie Ticket auto

  • CommemKingCommemKing Posts: 2,202 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just checked his feedback left for others. Sure enough He gave a negative feedback to someone claiming a reprinted card. Im in for a scam if I don't get it stopped at the post office. Im going to have to wait till im home from work since my tracking info is at home.

  • CommemKingCommemKing Posts: 2,202 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well I just did a USPS Package Intercept and had the package returned to sender. Hopefully it works. Now what can I do about the feedback? I already filed a claim against the buyer for the neutral feedback, but now that I am having the card returned to me how does that impact what ebay will do? Is it safe to refund his money as soon as I get the card back in my possession? DO I let the buyer know that I have had the package returned to me?

If you input tracking to eBay, it’s there, too.

Notify eBay of every detail with as much corroboration as you can give and issue the refund immediately since the package isn’t going to arrive at all - use the text box to outline the issue.

Also, if you need to, lie. Just say you sent the wrong card and lost the Brady rookie so have to cancel.

Getting the feedback removed shouldn’t an issue but there’s almost 100% chance you’ll be annoyed by the process and it will take more time than it really should.

Again, sorry for your troubles but you should be in good shape and on a good path now.

Unfortunately, just via scans, no in most cases. In hand, you can definitely see the difference in card stock and in some cases, the printing is obvious. What this is doing is similar to other cards like the Jordan rookies is making it to where ungraded copies are going to be difficult to sell once the market is flooded with this fake crap. Again, the people selling this stuff are complete scum

FWIW Ive had this happen to me before (low FB buyer leaving me and others unreasonable negs). I called eBay and for once they were extremely helpful and actually removed the neg within about 10 minutes. Hope it all works out for you. These situations suck.

Well I just contacted ebay and told them the scoop. They immediately sided with me and reported him. They also said that the neutral feedback will be removed in a few minutes! This is good news. Hopefully the USPS intercept works and I get the card back as I sent it. Im not sure I want to be a seller of raw cards and coins on ebay any more. Hopefully this scammer gets shot down before he ever flew.

And before I even finished typing this post they feedback has been removed!

Well lokks like USPS Package Intercept failed and the card was delivered to the buyer. I will likely get my money back there. Since I spoke last the buyer contacted me and said he wants to keep the card. So, looks like im taking my money and running. I got the neutral feedback quickly removed. I would call this a successful transaction.

Yup he can still try to claim a few different things via PayPal and when all else fails go the chargeback route. The chargeback route is what pisses me off the most with PayPal as a seller. Pretty much a big F U from PayPal if this happens you get to eat everything associated with it and since you are not the actual company that processed the payment (PayPal is) you have zero way to fight the chargeback. In 21 years been hit twice on this for amounts of less than $30 but still pisses me off.

I'm sorry this happen to you, but If it's a Tom Brady rookie and you sold it raw. Why didn't you get it graded? To me it seems like a classic buyer playing the switcheroo game with a raw card. By you not getting it graded you probably left a lot money on the table and you set yourself up for the scam.
