will the forum be discussing the 2109 Bicentennial Lincoln Cent in ninety years?

Or will the series be retired before then?

It will be long gone except for 24 different made for collectors varieties to be issued in "tribute" that year.

    All glory is fleeting.

Let's hope the cent and nickel are very long gone by then. We already waste $100 mm a year on these useless things.

Since I seriously doubt I’ll be around then, I’ll let others worry about it. :)

Just think about how the world and coin collecting has changed in the last 90 years. Plus. the changes are accelerating. Many more changes in the last thirty years than the first thirty.

Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.

By act of some future law, there will be no coins by 2109.
We will have gone to an electronic currency using debit/credit cards.

Think of all the money the US Government will save.
As well as, saved time in monetary transactions.

As of 2019, my credit cards are all I use. I receive direct deposit for my paycheck.

I have not touched a coin outside my collection.

    Just a thought.

Message boards will be occupied by AI versions of us. They will be sad and excited about the new 2109 copper coated zinc cent. Sad, because they will wonder what model AI's were sacrificed to make these 'coins'. Excited because of the new pineapple privy mint mark from Honolulu. Mintage will be limited to 10 trillion.

They will also be debating the new 1,000 point grading scale.

Not a great picture here, but "2019"-dated Lincoln/Shield cents already exist (as altered coins) ;) :

    Correction: "2109"

The way uncle likes to control people through frozen bank accounts and seized assets, it wouldn't surprise me if there was no official currency in existence.

If the current Wave of " Socialists" take control I wonder if we'll even have or need money of any kind? Food, Clothing, and Housing will be handed out. Who needs a Job when there's free stuff everywhere. We'll be like the old stereotypical Indian Reservation where everyone lays around and gets Drunk and does Drugs all day. Sort of like Detroit is - today. 😮

I give it a 50-50 chance, though not sure any of us will be around to see if we're right!

If the U.S. is still around, then yes, it will be issued, but probably only for collectors as there will not be a cent for circulation at that time. Fortunately, for Dan Carr, they won't be using the shield reverse at that time because the Mint will keep up the trend of changing the design every 50 years...

On the other hand, if we become the Socialist States of America by then, there still will be a cent issued for collectors, but it certainly wouldn't have Lincoln on it.

No, there will be no Forum, coins, or PCGS.

My crystal ball is cloudy - way too far into the future....Probably cloudy, because I will not be here to see it then...Who knows what the future will bring.... 20 years ago we never envisioned socialists and socialism becoming so popular in the U.S.. I will leave the future to the future....and enjoy the present. Cheers, RickO
