Danger close between the mm and the 5. I am not finding any info on this and all other 50's cent with mm show twice the space. Your comments are welcome. Peace Roy

Mint Marks for 1952 were applied by hand at the Philadelphia Mint. There was a guide to the acceptable placement, usually a square area under the date for Cents.
The person who applied the particular Mint Mark on your coin obviously missed the box. The Mint Mark itself is the correct one for the year.
This placement problem has occurred in other dates and denominations (like the 1914-S Buffalo Nickel, for one).
I don't believe that it gives the coin extra value, but it is a neat conversation piece.

Thanks for that Pete. I did see that the mm was the correct style. I didn't know the mm was applied by hand. So noted and in my oddities and error binder. Have a good day.
