Rather accurate on details. the lighting makes some difference. From a quick look at the coin, the background is relatively bright/shiny. So the dark contrast is how the angled light catches/reflects off the coin. The rim edging (showing on left but not on right side) is a reality of this coin (i.e., not my photography).

I suspect I got mine this early because last year I enrolled in the annual proof set. They just tell me it's coming and give me free shipping - so I may get priority on early shipping.

My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.

@rmorgan Maybe it’s the angle/shadow but it looks like a slight MAD? Comparing rim at 4-5:00ish to 9-11:00ish.

    Cropped pic:

    Still waiting on mine.

I noted that, too. It is the coin (slight MAD), not the lighting.

I was looking around the Mint website and only saw the 2019 W cent with the 2019 Proof Set. Is the cent available by itself, or only with proof sets?

    TIA

AUandAG: It may be one of the cents that the mint mistakenly sold for face value!

Go ahead get one and get the rocketship. You can then wrap the mint set with the rocketship and give it to someone for their birthday or something. Keep the cent.

    Or not.

Congrats on the penny I was wondering you can send these to NGC by them self’s for grading. The cost for is around $120.00 give or take for 3 pennies. Is this worth it since do we not know what the total population to be made is. But the set is unlimited but how many will they sell? There penny is a bit expensive since you have to buy the set unless you were one of the lucky few who managed to buy 100 of them for $1.00 :)

Just got mine yesterday. I feel dumb for asking this, but regarding that plastic wrapping that these coins come in - is it inert and safe to hold these in for a long time or should I be putting these proof into a better holder?

How do you normally collect cents? Album, flips, other? Do the same.

    Save the plastic, who knows.

If you have an extra cent keep it in the bag, too.

Yes, I agree. It looks almost fake. The older "Frost or Cameo" looks more natural. I would call it the cheaters Cameo or Frost. :p
