My 9yo has had some issues with with his teeth (his bite and even his jaw) requiring surgery and now braces. He had to have a (baby) tooth pulled today because it was interfering with the adult tooth that was coming in. It was his first experience with novocaine and an extraction.
He still believes in the tooth fairy and usually gets Ikes for his teeth. Since he went through a lot today, he is getting a special coin. (He's already got a 23 Peace and an 1885 O Morgan). I picked this up today and will put it under his pillow tonight.

Cool idea, that was thoughtful.

He definitely earned it. My five-year-old had three cavities filled in one visit last year. I nearly passed out.

Will you be MY daddy?!
So very cool!
Very nice coin and a great 'reward' for a dentist visit... especially at nine years old. Cheers, RickO

What was the post-Tooth Fairy visit like?
Thanks for sharing.
Great idea! Are you going to make him attribute the Vam?
We are doing that this weekend. (it's a really nice example of a VAM 9A. We should "find it" pretty easily.
I saw your post about it on VW2.0. I hope he likes it. I love this particular date. I got this one at the big Dalton show last August from @Yorkshireman.
That is a pretty coin!
I hope he enjoys the Peace dollar!

He got an MS63 1885-O VAM 25A when he had surgery to remove some teeth a couple years ago. He likes silver dollars and has spent some time looking through my collection so he is interested and likes them.
1925 Dollars sure are nice! They used up all the quality that year at the Philly mint and left none for San Fran.

Wow...too many coincidences in this thread! I picked one of those last year too and started a thread about it if you(or he) is interested!

The 25A is a great coin with lots of "character" on the obverse. Michael was much more impressed by the date of the coin than the incredible cracks.
I’m sure he will enjoy the coin. Dentists stop using Novocaine in the 80’s. They use lidocaine exclusively.

Thanks; I did not know that! Amazing the range of things you can learn on a coin forum! Whether it was novocaine or lidocaine, it was a needle into his gums, which he handled surprisingly well! (I still put the arm of the chair in a death grip when I get those shots! It hurts!)
The kind of frosty good that's better than Tony the Tiger's for sure!
