Nyuk, nyuk.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I was watching that. It blew the estimate out of the water. Amazing

An open box at that! The 3 stooges card registry has been in a league of their own. This stuff is competitive. I’d like to know the story behind it

As you might imagine, it all started when the guy in 3rd place on the Registry hit the guy in second place on top of the head with a shovel causing him to drop a full paint can on top of the guy in first place...
Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

Check out the registry.. The winner has the first 20 sets and about 40 totat.
Richard Barron Cohen... great guy! Bought many Stooges cards from me over the years.
He most certainly got shilled up because no one else would pay anywhere near that amount but him.
Best part are his comments on the set!!
"I built these Sets for my 2nd son Eric Baron Cohen. but he does not understand nor care, although at 34, he still remains a 3 Stooges fan. I am the ONLY collector in a family where no other person collects anything. They consider collecting a complete folly, and a total waste of money with absolutely no respect for it. The question should really be..Why have I really done this? The answer is that I have failed miserably with the living, so I have retreated to the inanimate with the exception of my dog "Phoebe".. Thank you."
It’s said really. They should make a movie about his life.
He has a different set for each of his 3 sons on the registry. T206 , horrors of war gum inc. and the 59 Stooges.
Check out his t206 tobacco set! I tried to trade him for one Cobb PSA 8 years ago but he would not budge.

I spoke to Richard (the winner) and he said he most definitely got shilled because they are allowed to do so
He even said that he called them before bidding and asked them not to shill him “too bad” lol
Did he sell some cards from his #2 set in a recent Goldin auction?
Saw some high grade stuff went way below the estimates.
Think Heritage is in Texas.
Yes he said he sold his #3 set.
Even he admits he’s gone overboard a little with the cards.
Correct. They are out of Dallas. If I had to rank them Heritage would be in the middle in regards to bidding anomalies since you have increments which insulate you somewhat in the process, but there is still a risk of friendly fire from the AH. There are two sites that continually come up with regards to shady bids, and one of them has the best stuff on eBay - the other is a dying AH who has really questionable prices when you look at VCP in 2016 on things like Clemente and Koufax rookies. Funny thing is we are so conditioned to funny stuff with bids when I won a Clemente on eBay last week I was shocked I got it at the price I did 😄

They have a office in Illinois. Maybe for just that specific reason.
Probably setup shop in Illinois just for that option to shill
