R LOL still means LOL or something more like 'disagree' since the elimination of 'D' button ?

I always thought LOL translates to happy member laughing WITH you .......... but few days ago I started noticing members 'asking' others to explain their LOLs so this reminded me of the 'D' period.
My LOLs given are a true LOLs ...... a compliment indeed

...I guess it’s up to each member to take it how they take it...just take it
I've used it both ways.
Yes, the LOL button is being used sarcastically much more often since the disagree button disappeared.
I always thought it meant "Low on Liquor" and CAC meant "Chinese and Counterfeit" and DDO was for "Damn, Dang, Oops" and RPM stood for "Really pretty minor/major" depending on how you look at it, and PMD was for "Probably Million Dollar"

Those are all pretty appropriate for this forum AND no way am I going to give you a LOL.
Awwwww Maaaaan

It depends on the context. If you say something funny, LOL means that I'm laughing with you but if you say something dumb, LOL means that I'm laughing at you.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

But it will get me another "badge" more quickly ... so keep laughing!
Take it literal... “laughter online”
Laughing with me
Laughing at me
Who cares
Not me
Because what’s the sense in worrying? Be happy.
If I LOL, I am literally laughing...If any other emotion/opinion is evoked, I will comment as such...Cheers, RickO
SOL would be appropriate at times in this forum.
I prefer ESOL, IOL, and IWYWBOL!
IMO, removing the "disagree" was a sad choice. Hitting the disagree button and then explaining the reason for the disagreement was a very useful educational tool that helped the discussion and in some cases (at least with me) modified my opinion.
Unfortunately, many members who were not knowledgeable, spiteful. lazy, or not properly "potty-trained" failed to post their reason.
Now I leave LOL's for either funny or misinformed (IMO) posts. Unfortunately, one of those choices is a misuse of that button.
wut?
It is IS. IS = "Internet speak." AYNTDITI!
I am still glad the Disagree button is gone - it was a divisive weapon for too many people. It allowed trolls to be passive aggressive in their attacks on individual members.
As for the current use of the LOL button, I am sure it is meant sarcastically at times. Sort of like the Southern expression "bless your heart": it might actually mean "bless your heart", or it might mean "you're an idiot".

The LOL used sarcastically as a disagree does not come across as strongly as a disagree with explanation. A lot of people would miss the subtle meaning of a LOL to their post.
Better to disagree with explanation in a reply so the meaning is evident.

That's good, because it is mostly those folks who I give a sarcastic LOL.
I've had it used as a weapon against me!

Of note, it literally means "laugh(ing) out loud".
Agree! Forgotten how things mutated from the 70/80s to now.

I think LOL is wayyy-over used by the masses. I seldom use it unless I REALLY laugh out loud.
