Sad oversight by the Hall of Fame...

    Definitely worthy of consideration...

Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

He was considered, but I think even in his last year of eligibility he may have gotten only 15% of the writers' votes. I'm guessing the problem was that he didn't have a long enough career of dominance.

I knew a little about him.

In looking at his stats, he lost 2+ years in his prime to military service. Eight of his ten years were good to great.

Sounds like his career was cut short because of alcoholism. Nice to see he recovered and helped others to do the same.

    R.I.P.
