another coin from my collection

I promised to post a couple coins from my collection. This coin is an 1862 Proof Gold Dollar PCGS 64DCAM CAC. About 14-16 are known to exist. I like what Dannreuther said. Given the civil war "it is a miracle that we have any proof gold coins from this era." We have seen "a few great proof gold collections dispersed over the last few decades with Garrert, Eliasberg, Carter, Norweb, Trompeter, Pittman, Pouge coming to market. This has made some coins like the 1862 proof gold dollar appear to be more available than they are."

I've often thought about that. There's so many reasons they could've just not produced any.

Doug Winter sold the coin back in Sept 2011 and his description can be found on his site using the search engine. He identifies the coin as Ex Goldberg 2/06 where it sold for $16,675.
