1937~ Lincoln Cent Error?

ClioClio Posts: 542 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hello! I have a Lincoln cent here I received in a large collection. Initially I thought it might be an extreme struck through grease error but when checking the weight it clocks in at 2.9grams so not as likely. I don't know much about errors. My best guess is that would disqualify it from being an error. However I wanted to check here just in case. Cheers!

If one side was messed up but the other side was normal there might be something to investigate. But, with extreme wear to both sides it looks like damage (the high rims on the obverse suggest more than just normal wear and tear).

    We'll see what others say...

It is definitely PMD... the extreme wear on the reverse suggests it was trapped somewhere for an extended period and subjected to vibration... perhaps under the seat of a car...rubbing on the bare metal. Just a suggested possibility. Cheers, RickO

It has much the same look of a piece of glass (such as from a broken soft drink bottle) that has been exposed to the effects of sand, pebbles and waves over a long period of time.
