A 1942 Proof set seems like a very attainable set to put together.

I just ordered Mr. Burdette’s book...as a companion to my actual proof coins. Most people would have bought the book BEFORE the coins...but I’m an oddball like that!

:) Well, the book wasn't available when you started collecting these proofs.

There are some excellent proof coins of this era available at fair/reasonable prices -- but collectors have to search widely and be very discriminating.

Thanks! That one is probably my favorite color Buff.

Beautiful Buffalo proofs -- yet.....compare that excellent 1936 to a 1916 buffalo and see how far the detail has fallen.

Lots of great images but only a few 1936 coins shown. '36 coins are definitely the stoppers I have found. Deep mirrored 1936 quarters are the toughest to find I think. Rick Tomaska had a nice Pf 67 example but it was expensive. He may still have it as I could not afford it.

Imagine having to dryly research all this and wishing I could swoop down and buy the best pieces before "anyone knew" ..... :)

Picked up a couple more recently. So cheap. Love when they have some color.

Fingerprints confirm low quality control on many of these!

    Really nice!

My only proof from the 1936-1942 era. I hope to get a Walker soon!

I almost bought a proof Walker last Saturday but the price was too high. Oh well... Sooner or later I'll get one too.

Be patient. Look for nice proofs at small shows and unusual locations. The best values will usually not be in slabs, so hone your skill at detecting details/defects.

I agree, I want nice, clean original examples with good eye appeal. I have plenty of time...
