1948-S Proof Like: Nickel, Dime, Quarter.

PocketArtPocketArt Posts: 1,335 ✭✭✭✭✭

I don't consider myself an aficionado, connoisseur, or, purveyor of Proof Likes,...at this stage more like a fiend. I like PL's!!!

Here is a trio of '48-S business strikes that are PL. Should need the '48-s half, and cent to complete run; yet, a good start. Sorry for poor quality photos on some images; however, you get the picture. ;)

Sorry to tell you that you won’t be getting a 1948-S half - prooflike or otherwise.

G.D. your right Mark, there were no PL 1948-S halves, let alone PL's...or, strikes. I feel less than adequate now, so, maybe just hope for some common cents...eeks, I mean sense...uggh...I feel small. Can you help with a PL cent Mark?

Don’t sweat it - I had to look it up before posting, to make sure I wasn’t remembering incorrectly.😉

Those are a very nice matched date set, even if a half is out of the question . ;)

Yeah, well, I tried explaining I wasn't a connoisseur, or, any of that refined stuff...this is going to hurt....isn't it...d*** it.

I love PLs! You have some really nice coins. I hope I can find a clean PL 43-S Steel Cent one day.

Always buying nice toned coins! Searching for a low grade 1873 Arrows DDO Dime and 1842-O Small Date Quarter.

I have a PL obverse 1943 Lincoln cent, full PL 1943-S quarter, and full PL 43-s dime. I do know there is a half that year...pretty sure.

Nice trio. You could try to complete a 49-S PL year set. I've owned the dime and half before. Fully PL Wheat Cents other than 1943 are very difficult to come by.

I have the half, but not the cent, or, dime. Trying to complete runs on PL's though; I enjoy collecting this particular niche.

In fact there are some PL 1948-S Halves. You just have to think outside the box regarding the design.

True WLW! I had not thought of that angle, even though I have attempted to purchase a few in auctions.

Commemorative's, yes, that is a great idea @WinLoseWin. I remember seeing a few years ago a beautiful Booker T. proof like I bid on, and didn't win. If only I had thought of that last night in response to Mr. Feld regarding my memory lapse with Franklin series....

Lance Tchor of WINGS owns three or four NGC PL BTW Commems. I remember liking one of them very much. Something for you to consider.
