Dumbfounding!!!

Is there anyone out there that can explain to me why/how this ebay auction not only receives bids but receives lots of bids and sells for what it does? https://ebay.com/i/303044952906?ul_noapp=true Is it just me or is there something fishy with "OBW" Lincoln Cent Roll.......with Indians on both sides. Is it just me that wonders "how do you know they're Lincoln's?"....or am I missing something? I see this same description writing style (all caps in red, blue and black) from several Ebay sellers selling "OBW" rolls....many of which are wheat cents in wrappers not even created and sold until the 1970's....and they sell....for ridiculous prices....with good feedback! It makes my head hurt! I must be missing something here!

It sounds like you’re not missing anything. ;) On the other hand, the buyers might be missing some common sense.

Think you got it pegged.....never fall for that crap.

But, I do look at all the CC rolls of Morgans..

Occasionally find a nice VAM on the end but always get outbid anyway.

Looks to me like two culls that were once likely corroded or something, and then cleaned and shined up in the exact same manner.

But then again perhaps my computer screen isn't displaying the coins properly. ;)

because it has nice cleaned coins on the ends, who knows what could be on the inside ++++

Ebay really needs to put an end to this.

These guys are probably making 6 figures on all these fraudulent rolls

Keep in mind that to the casual "collector", cleaned coins look "B.U.". A lottery mentality of 'something for nothing' kicks in along with the ignorance, and another sucker is fleeced.

Knowledgeable collectors aren't going to buy this garbage.

Naive buyers may sooner or later figure out that they got taken, but by then it's usually too late to leave feedback.

    ChrisH821....Nice post!

Ugh...these guys really anger me. Beyond their cowardly and absolute lack of integrity (or the willingness to trade it for a paper dollar) I can't even imagine how much damage they do to the hobby both directly and through collateral damage by blatantly and intentionally ripping off the more "entry-level" collectors. It simply gives the numismatic hobby and business in general a undeserved bad name.

Surely hurts the hobby! I wish there was a way to warn off folks to these sales/auctions.Back in the day eBay would allow us to communicate with one another.......those were the days.

Such a shame..... I do remember the early days of ebay.... When REAL deals could be found....the crooks had not yet taken over.... Cheers, RickO
