What's a sheet?
I think it’s some sort of analog price list. Kind of like stock quotes in the newspaper back when I was growing up.
I sold a bunch of coins at FUN and not a single dealer pulled that thing out. Not even one. Everyone was looking at auctions, and if they didn't like what they saw there, they made something up.
I didn't vote, as I don't think anyone will live or die by using 'the sheet'.
I will say that the dealers I know depend more on CCE these days, even though it is quite expensive.
Just live by the prices you like and ignore the rest. No reason to crucify yourself over a few bad numbers.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
Obviously, it depends on what you are selling. For widgets, it's the sheet. For premium material, it is auction results.
if you live by the grey sheet then you should die by it. not everyone does it that way, fwiw and its jmo
For the most part coins with Great eye appeal are way over great sheet.
Dull ugly coins on the other hand..??????
I think it has ran its course.

I use my own judgement !!!
LOL
I use the sheet (both blue and grey) when considering buying and as markup basis but ultimately cost plus rules. The CPG price guide is excellent. If your in the business the sheet is a necessary tool.
Auction prices can be the most what somebody paid in the country at a given point in time or the least on a bad day / item and can wildly vary.
The major consideration for me is what can I sell the item for to make an instant profit / move it quickly.
as mentioned above, I don't see that at national shows, most dealers use auction records and such, but lots of local show dealers and shop owners, live and die by the sheet. They feel thier 21 28 peace, 38d halves 32-d quarters are worth the sheet values, often I can sell them these coins at 10-20 back, and still come out ahead. But at the same time, if they happen to get a coin with real value, like say scarce date seated late dates, better dates, nice copper, and other issue and they sell at greysheet plus a few dollars, I can smoke em .
