1954 All Star Pack Photos (Hi Res scans of newly 'Jumbo' eligible item)
Consider this part Public Service Announcement and part happy guy with new set sharing it. This is now a gradable set; I will send Mickey in (for sure) and maybe a couple of others from the set. Here's the biggest name stars that I got scanned before running out gas. I'm sure some day soon these will be in their respective player master sets s hopefully this will truly help some of you ID 'your guy' and get the jump if you haven't ever seen them. They're really cool looking and while All Stars, most of these guys are still baby faced kids, especially rookie Ernie Banks and Mickey Mantle who is clearly wearing a 6 on his back (they used an old photo).

The Mantle is off to PSA for grading.
I’ll be curious to see how it performs...

Have you tried getting proper documentation ( ad proof or magazine proof) of where the set originated or do you already possess it ?? When it comes to some of the 40-50's picture sets its confusing about actual production times and what they were thinking when they produced these sets
The inclusion of Williams in any All Star picture set of 1954 is to me rather strange and perplexing. He served in the Korean War in 1952/53 and when he returned in 1954 broke his collarbone in April and was out for nearly 2 months missing all of April and the majority of May .
Of course his status in the game back then was similar to Musial - inclusion may have been guaranteed whether he was actively participating or not in any MLB games at the time the set was released.
I'd love to learn about the background on production of that set.
Jeff
I honestly don’t know who made these but have never looked into it, either. I know many of these players were actual 1954 All-Stars but not sure if it is related to the actual game or was a more generic ‘games best players’ type thing. But I happened to buy this specific set from a guy who bought it at a ballpark as a souvenir in 1954. This set is also in the Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards, which isn’t true of every set.
I agree that some of the picture packs can be hard to date and you really need to do your homework. It can be easier to tell, though, if you have the full set and check against the rosters year by year. Singles are near impossible to date to specific years unless it is a unique, one year pose.

The Musial is fantastic! That sweet swing. There's also a guy digging for gold in the background 😂

That's a beauty of a set Tim!
I agree on the Mantle "6" - plus as we said - the patch on his uni was a 1951 only thingy.
Looks like they're 6X8+ - very nice size and in great shape to boot.
It will look beautiful in a Jumbo holder
Nice, Ben! Didn’t know you had the 3.5.
PS - There will be two more on the pop report soon.

Love that Teddy Ballgame.

I think I have the ability to send in only about 2-3 instead of the full set or I would have tried to send them all in in one shot. They’re really sharp and thanks to everyone for the kind words.
