Upcoming show... finding raw material

yspsalesyspsales Posts: 2,526 ✭✭✭✭✭

Looking to get back into the hobby after a hiatus.

Likely will take the ANA course over the next several months.

Still hanging onto and closer to finishing a circulated Indian Head cent collection than anything.

A few common slabbed Buff's laying around.

I really enjoy Buffalo Nickels and Morgans.

In the past, I have always enjoyed buying raw and testing my grading skills.

Wanting to ease back into collecting.

There are a couple state shows coming up in NC/SC

Thought I would focus on mainly Proof sets for cherry picking varieties and raw Buffalo Nickels with the intent of "making" some MS 64 and MS65 grades.

What are the chances of finding raw Buffalo Nickels in the wild?

Any advice you can give me as to what shows are better.... FUN for example?

    Welcome to the forum.
Plenty of raw Buffalo nickels in the wild.....those that you think you can pick, to make 64 and 65 grades, not so much, other than 13P T1, 38D's, and a few other dates from the Thirties.

FUN is one of the best major shows, but looking at your presumed area in Southeast, the Baltimore shows and the Dalton GA shows may be of interest to you.

I was trying to decide between Charlotte and Spartanburg shows.

Looking at the dealers list, Charlotte will be my choice.

Daulton Ga is certainly on my radar.
