Probably wanted it to die a slow death. Before the images, I would wonder how many graded coins for a particular date were simply certs resubmitted, and not really there. See something with a pop 50 yet one would never come on the market ... then the images helped sort out how many errors were in the pops. I guess this puts us back where we were before if the take down the photos, but don't fix the pops. That's what the real issue is.

From what I read in the thread, coinfacts was too successful and too good and it made it so a certain dealer, or more, had trouble justifying higher prices for coins that had been lower grades at some point.
So, the complaining about Coinfacts wasn't to better the hobby, it was done as self-preservation by certain dealers.

Laura took credit for going to PCGS.

With an interesting reason too. She’s trying to create new collectors and the photos were a liability.

Just yesterday I wanted to compare a coin I thought was XF to the Coinfacts images for research purposes...oh wait can't...
