Many XF-AU Morgans look like they have been cleaned(to me) in scans and photos online. Anyone else?

I know my eyes are not as good as they used to be, but it seems like when I see them on websites, a LOT look like they have hairlines or have been rubbed on many parts of the coins. And I'm not talking about raw "dreck"(yeah, I have been wanting to use that term)...that you see on Ebay. Many are in holders of the major grading services. Does anyone else know what I am referring to? If not, I'm probably just tired and need sleep! Lol. If not, post a coin you haven't ever shown on the forum...or a cool beaver, bird or bunny rabbit pic!

The reason they look that way is because they have been cleaned.
It is exceedingly rare to find an XF-AU Morgan without any obvious signs of cleaning.
Thank you for the reply. Does this mean they have just become acceptable at this point and that is why so many are straight graded??
A lot have been 'dipped'.
Yes, I think that’s correct. There is considerable latitude for such coins to straight grade.
For many of these coins, I believe they have been cleaned, since, for many years, it was acceptable.... Then dipping became more common. So, your eyes are still seeing things correctly
Cheers, RickO
Shiny sells. Now, what was the question?

I've learnt quite quickly on this shinny subject ...... if it's as blasting white as any ASE First Strike's then it's a wonder
