FUN Morgan ‘NFS’

I’m always looking for dramatic one-sided DMPL’s. Especially those in old slabs. Near the end of Friday I happened to come across Dan Davis’ table (Staten Island Coin Investments). This coin was in his case with a ‘NFS’ sticker on it. I struck up a conversation with Dan and segued into, “so how about I make you an offer on that NFS Morgan?!”.... with real enthusiasm and a nostalgic tone Dan explained that this was the first slabbed coin he ever bought decades ago, and that he has faithfully carried it with him to shows always tagged NFS. He said he loved the impressive black and white contrast, old slab, humble grade, etc. I said I did too and would love to add it to my set of moose-cameo-one-siders. So I made him an offer I was hoping he couldn’t refuse.... With some wistfulness and more fun back and forth—and after he confirmed that I was just a collector and not a dealer—he very reluctantly let it go. I mean he was genuinely attached to this coin. Super nice guy.

Thanks Dan! :sunglasses:

Sometimes the best way to sell something is to label it NFS. ;)

That is a very beautiful Morgan and it seems to have found the right new home. :)

Plus it’s even ricko approved! :D

I have seen that coin dozens of times at the monthly parsippany show. As stated it always said NFS on it no matter how many times I tried to buy it.

Ironically, when I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of Dan's coin and when I saw the picture thought the thread would be about the NFS idea.

    wow! congrats on the purchase!

may the fonz be with you...always...

Very Nice indeed! Wish I had my 1st graded coin. Nothing special but it was a PCGS MS63 1883 P.

Sweet coin!! I really have a soft spot for those one sided DMPLs. I'm happy to hear you were able to sweet talk you way into becoming the new owner. :)
