Here are some point of sale display pieces for Mothers Cookies in 1990 & 1991. The Nolan Ryan makes me think these were sold in Texas. Not sure if that was something new in 1990 or existed prior. Seems like a large jump in one year.

Mother's Cookies issued team sets every year from 1983 - 1998.
They also did 4-card sets for the following players:
Mark McGwire
Will Clark
Nolan Ryan
Jose Canseco
Ken Griffey Jr
Matt Williams
Jeff Bagwell
Mike Piazza
Tim Salmon
Chuck Knoblauch

Knoblauch is a strange choice as he is the only one not on one of the teams they did a team set.
I thought the same thing.
The set was issued in 1992, after he won the 1991 AL Rookie of the Year award. Mother's Cookies also released their 4-card Jeff Bagwell set in 1992 (he was the NL ROY in 1991).
Edited to add:
They also did a set in 1989, for the 1986 - 1988 ROYs (Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire and Walt Weiss), and sets in 1994 for Mike Piazza and Tim Salmon (1993 ROYs).
You have this card from 1989 with the write up on the back and then you posted the card with a half year stats on the back. Are these both from 1989? What do the cards with the stats look like on the front?

There was an early 1990 series version of Griffey sliding. The cards accompanying the figure look to be the same as the leaping Griffey. I guess they were produced and packaged sometime in 1989, as I have no idea otherwise why they would then only include partial 1989 stats on the back, but you can see it in this eBay listing. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/232723637332

The fronts are the same on both cards. I have an uncut proof sheet of the 1989 MLBPA version.
I was wondering why his 89 TT PSA 10 sold relatively cheaply, then looked at pop report.
10,300 PSA 10's. Wow! Probably my favorite of his rookies but that is a lot of PSA 10's.

1989 score, upper deck and fleer have the next closest 1989 pop and they aren’t even close. The 89 Topps is a beautiful card. Tiffany version even nicer.

Did you feel a little (OC) too?

I believe so. All their issues appear to be regional west coast teams. Of course I'm going from distant memory.
I believe I got this one from a Member on FCB/Becket a while back, he pack pulled it

forgot to post this one
