1957 NY Yankees Action Pictures - Complete Set with Envelope (Hi Res)
When I posted this in the pickups thread, it got a couple of likes and a 'What the heck are those?' so I figured I'd post some scans so that if anyone likes them and wants to pursue these for themselves, they'll know what to look for in the future. The envelope is a bit larger than my scanner but pretty well beat up around the edges; it lists the checklist and all the players in the set. My guess is that the Elston Howard was on top (or bottom) in the envelope as he has the most toning and visible wear. The rest are in pretty outstanding shape as you can see. The scans are completely unaltered and it a dark room with the cover up. They were laid flat and raw (with no coverings) against the glass for best visibility. Size is 8x10, on very thin paper stock with a light gloss on the side with the image. Most of the images are common to both the 1956 and 1957 sets with the Mantle from 1956 being a different pose than this one and other roster based changes.
Envelope
Mickey Mantle
Casey Stengel
Tony Kubek
Bill Skowron
Andy Carey
Hank Bauer
Bob Turley
Elston Howard
Whitey Ford
Don Larsen
Gil McDougald
Yogi Berra
Anyway, a fun little set is now complete for me and I thought I'd share it with you fine folks.

Those are really awesome! I like how the font style and color varies between players to keep it interesting!

They have a funny definition of "action photo"
Great photos though!
Cool set for sure!!!
Well, the funny part of it is I had to go to the Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards to figure out exactly what these were. Again, I’m sure the only changes from the 56 to the 57 were the look of the Mantle and the addition of Tony Kubek (took the place of Joe Collins). Makes sense that most people wanted a new shot of the newly minted Triple Crown winner...
As for the color variance? I’m pretty sure the only two that ‘stand out’ are Mantle and Berra - that being because I bought them separately. The rest came in onenlot with the envelope. The middle are least toned and I’m guessing Carey and Howard were the ones on the against the envelope.

I like the funky Green Acres font for Kubek.
Are these from Jay Publishing or someone else?
Ever wonder how these guys would do in today's game? So many of their swing follow-throughs seem awkward. But I would guess Whitey Ford would still be dominant, as would Mantle. Great pics!

Think they would fall into the ‘Team Issue’ category.

Not a baseball guy but that’s a cool pickup. I’m struggling to find postcard issued team sets from the ‘70s. From the 50’s? And even larger? That’s a great set! Congrats.

I’d love to get my hands on the 56 version. Well aligned with my favorite ‘Wheaties Premium’ pose...
