Completed my Seated Liberty Dime Set
121 coins later my Liberty Seated Dimes with Major Varieties set is complete. I'm so glad I was able to finish it. It's not the #1 set (8th All-Time, actually), but it is only the 4th 100% complete set listed on the PCGS Registry, which is kind of cool to me. "I started my collection of seated dimes as a teenager in the 1980’s just before the appearance of the Third Party Grading Services. Most of the common dates were acquired in that period. As with many people I took a long break from coin collecting during college, early working years, and while saving for a house. When I returned to coins in 2014, it felt like a very different hobby. Slabs had taken over and it soon became clear that completing my collection with raw coins would be essentially impossible. So I had my childhood collection certified and began looking for the rest. The journey was a lot harder than I had thought at the outset. I'm pretty sure it is easier (though obviously more expensive) to complete a Seated Dime set in mint state than it is in higher circulated grades. Seated Dimes were used in commerce for a long time and many circulated examples are very much the worse for wear. A large fraction of the coins have been cleaned as well. Interestingly, the most expensive dates are not the most difficult to find. The 1838 Partial Drapery, 1863, 1865, 1870-S, and 1885-S were much more difficult than any of the four key 1871-1874 CC's. The photographs in this set are all my own. I know that many of the photographs could be improved and this is something I am still learning. Thank you for viewing my set."

Wow, nice set. I think your photo's are great! My favorites are the 38-o and that RPD 43. Nice into write up too!

Congratulations on an admirable achievement! Date-mintmark sets with varieties can be a challenging process. I am at 95% on my main nickel set with all varieties, looking forward to the day of 100%.

Congratulations! I mean it - I don't even like Liberty Seated Dimes - but I like the look of your set. Some of the coins are really outstanding - so many beautiful coins that aren't top pop and/or cost an arm and a leg. The early dates look outstanding on that first page.

Great set, all VF and better. Why the handful of mint states? Was finding them in AU58 impossible.

You can see both sides if you go to the regular registry set display.
It does seem that the process of getting photos into the "album display" causes errors, for example there are dups if I try going from one coin to the next instead of going back to the album page. This process should really be automated by the software (I assume the errors occur because it has to be done by hand?)1 -
