NEWP 1921 Peace Dollar *pocket piece*

I got this today. It’s cleaned pretty harshly, but probably with an eraser or something like fine steel wool. I believe it will be straight gradeable in time with proper pocket-piece time.

In just a few hours time, you can already see progress on the reverse above the ON of “one”.

Nice to somebody still keeps change in their pockets.
Good luck with it -- guessing there will be follow ups posted!
Have FUN with it my friend.....don't you just love it not having to wear gloves?
I like it, good luck !!!
I tried an Ike as pocket piece once. The boys did not appreciate it at all

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
How so M? BTW welcome back

I hope it wasn't from someone who took my advice that using steel wool would clean the coin right up. I sometimes fail to include that smiley...
A dollar is a pretty hefty coin. Your pants pockets may hate you.
I've been carrying my no bell line Franklin for a couple decades now. It came right out of a proof set. I'll have to go get one of the unmolested proof sets that were in the same batch and compare the two to see how much wear I really put on it.
Nice old Peace Dollar...pocket wear will smooth it out... Keep taking pictures of the progress... maybe one picture every six weeks....Will make an interesting sequence. Cheers, RickO
Very nice looking brushed aluminum piece dollar you have added to the pockets!
I have an 1838 half I've been using as a pocket piece. a few rubs of the thumb daily help the process along
I think it's a worthy project. The smoothed wear of a well loved Peace dollar is very pleasing to my eyes and touch. Peace Roy

Have you thought about a "time course" project... take the piece out once per month and image? It'd be interesting to see the progression over a year or two...

Oh.......
@asheland Cool project for sure. Maybe I will try one with my keys as I don't carry change. I have a set of keys in each of my front pockets. One set of keys for home and the other set are my work keys.

The pocket is heavy no doubt!
But there is the change and keys both in there. I will try to keep this thread updated. If I remember.

Another thing to my advantage is that I have a goal of 10,000 steps a day for exercise. All of that walking helps a lot.

I have been carrying a cleaned 1925 Peace Dollar and a cleaned 1854-O Seated Liberty Half in my pocket for years. They both look much better now than they did years ago.
