CAC submissions?

jesbrokenjesbroken Posts: 10,543 ✭✭✭✭✭

Did CAC not originally take submissions from individuals? It is over 100 miles to the nearest vendor with CAC submission privileges. That sucks. Does anyone know Historic Treasures Keith Wolfe in Mt. Airy, NC or done business with him?
Thanks, Jim

CAC offers accounts for dealers and accounts for collectors. I am not sure about dealer accounts, but collector accounts can be obtained by printing off an application from the website (or maybe request one by mail) and then send it in when completed. I had to wait 3 months or so before an account was available for me. Wait now may be longer or shorter. I have a partial submission sitting at home. If you would like to consider having me send items in for you, feel free to PM me for more details. Or not, if you are not comfortable. I have not used a dealer so I can't help you there.

For the first year or so it was submissions via CAC dealer network only. Hope that answers your question.

For some time now, the following message is listed on the collector membership page. I see some merit to that. One could also argue that by limiting access and thereby supply to CAC stickered coins, it impacts the supply/demand equilibrium of prices for those that are stickered.

"CAC is not accepting new Dealer or Collector Memberships at this time.
John Albanese, founder and president of the company explains: “We don’t want to get completely overwhelmed. We’ve kept our prices friendly and our turnaround times favorable, and we want things to stay that way. Capping our membership for at least the rest of the year will give us a chance to consolidate our growth and assess where we’re headed in the future.”
When membership is re-opened, we will post a notice on the site."

I’ve met Keith Wolfe and have friends who know him. He’s reputable.

Yep, sounds like your best current option is a tag along. They have had my latest submission since Dec. 21 so I'm expecting results on Wednesday. Remember, return shipping is Registered Mail which is slow as molasses.

Reminds me that I should put together a few items to send their way myself.
