Thin Planchets or PMD?

StrikeOutXXXStrikeOutXXX Posts: 3,352 ✭✭✭✭✭

These came in a bulk lot, and finally getting around to taking a closer look.

I haven't handled enough of these to have a good feel for them but have my doubts about a few of them.
Thoughts from the pro's? (or even the amateurs)

As they arrived:

1893 - 1.54g

1898 - 1.68g

1901 - 1.77g

1902 - 1.67g

1905 - 1.78g

1944 - 1.33g

1954 Canada - 1.43g

Here they are between two modern cents

    Acid treated. Strictly post-mint damage.

All are acid treated, as mentioned above.

None are error coins of any type - sorry

Acid wash. All look like from the same "experimental" source.

Definitely agree with the acid treated evaluation... have seen many. I spent years in an industry that did plating.. gold, silver, copper etc.... and we had acid tanks for cleaning prior to plating...people would do coins all the time...acid wash, then plate ... they ruined a lot of coins... Cheers, RickO
