High end gold coins with die grease

I have a really nice high end Saint with totally clean original surfaces. It also has die grease on Liberty's face, the top of the torch, and on other high points. Hard to see with the naked eye, but with magnification it comes into view. What is the PCGS take on die grease?

I would call them and ask if they
    would/ could remove the grease.

Sounds like putty or nose grease to me. A simple soak in Acetone should remove it.

    A picture would help.

Die grease is a substance that filled in part of the coin die when it stamped the coin image and thereby did not allow all detail to transfer to the coin blank. You will see area of missing detail where the detail should be present.

Nose grease or putty as @AUandAG mentions is applied to a coin to hide defects such as handling marks in the attempt to make the coin look higher grade.

Which do you think you have?

A picture would help us determine what you have...Cheers, RickO
