If there is one thing I've learned this 1st year (kindergarten).

Is that everything is one big bleeping mystery & I've made some mistakes like sending in modern cents that only graded to 64 & 65 and maybe that's because I sent them first in 4x4s then 2x2s. Now, after reading the mystery cliff notes a little closer I managed to order the correct 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 flips. The other day I received my first CPG the first time I ordered it I actually ordered the Red Book (that wasn't much help). So, tonight I sat down to read the CPG and to my dismay it doesn't even mention pennies it starts with like dimes from the 14th century. So, I said to myself. Self! just go ahead and start reading anyway and low and behold a 1959 25C Type B reverse turns up in my meager lil collection. YN for novices like me, I like the I-3 & L-4 aspects of this coin but, don't understand the URS-4, does that mean only 5-8 examples or that they are worth 5-8 dollars?

They want you to send them in flips, but I do not think it influenced the grades. It can be tough to make a high MS modern.
Good luck on your cherry picking. I still don't have a guide myself. Need to get one.
Yes, I realize that the flip had nothing to do with the grade. Just a little sarcasm to demonstrate a little frustration. And thanks, be sure to read the complete title. Good luck!
@CoinscratchFever Good luck to you too! Washington quarters are my favorite series and your post has inspired me to learn about the varieties.
Note: There are two volumes to the CPG.

URS 4 means 5 to 8 known.
Not value, that depends on popularity.

Thanks, I'm starting to lean that way as well in fact, I recently found a 1963 25C DDO fs-101 in a UC set which is pretty cool I think the value is between 100 & 1,000 depending on the grade.
A little fun price of tuition and nice surprises along the way. Continue having fun and thank you for sharing
I think the value is between 100 & 1,000 depending on the grade.
You'll learn that the Value is what you can sell it for, rather than what a book or other price list says it's "worth".

@CoinscratchFever Some older information on the rarity scale. Interesting to note the evolution/changes.

Glad you enjoy the hobby. Keep learning and have fun, I am, everyday.
Don't ruin it for me LOL. I have seen where coins sell for half the listed value. I'm more like Mr. Krabs anyway.

I must have missed something maybe it was talking about the 1964 that only 5 to 8 are known. Because it gave a URS-4 where it mentions 1956 to 1964.
There are two volumes to the CPG....Vol One has cents up to dimes...Cheers, RickO
