They should give you change like that all the time to help offset their high prices! ;)

    Seriously, that’s a cool find!

    Wow!

I got two War nickels in the same handful of change one time, and asked the cashier to check for more. Ended up with about 4 rolls of early Jeffs, the vast majority of which were Warnix.

They didn't look like that, though. They were all low grade and covered with a blackish greasy substance, as though they'd come out of the bilge of a boat.

It was still a fun find.

But yours... wow. Crazy nice for one in the wild!

When I first looked at the coin I thought it was a modern proof. I was really surprised to see the D on the reverse.

That is an amazing war nickel.... I do believe that was likely in Grandpa's collection and liberated....If I had seen that in hand while at the register, I definitely would have asked to check for more...Cheers, RickO

Hadn't found anything worth saving in a while, then received a wheat cent in change the other day. Nothing special, just haven't gotten one in a while.

Wow, what a beaute in the wild! That's the kind of find that would ignite someone's interest in the world of collecting.
For instance, what first peaked my interest in this crazy hobby was also a strange connection. The short story. Lol. Where I previously worked, under the rug in a vacant apt. I found 5 coins. Three wheats (insignificant dates) one buffalo and one Large Cent. A 1847. I was shocked, esp. finding that Large Cent. I thought I really hit the jackpot? Lol. That's what started it all. Way back in 1990. Good Luck in finding more little gems like what you found. :)
