    $350 to $375 if I wanted it. $320 because I don't ( assuming it's real and it probably is).

'Bout $350, plus or minus a few bucks, if it is genuine. Lots of convincing counterfeits, so I'll let the really smart guys chime in there.

Looks real to me, and I agree with the others on price

It came from my aunt, which was given to her by her grandfather

My aunt told me she took it to a jeweler to get appraised years ago and it was worth 500 and also she had taken in her husband's purple heart just to get a number and they also said five hundred for that. It's the first one I ever had seen.

The coin is a rather ordinary looking circulated example of the type. It is a type that was extensively counterfeited in the 1970's-1980's but looks good to me (but I am no expert on these). That said, the fact that it has not been slabbed will cause it to bring less. The $320 mentioned earlier is probably closer to what you could actually get for it as a raw coin. Having it slabbed would probably not add enough value to cover the costs relating to having it slabbed.

    All glory is fleeting.

Gold got close to $2k once only time you could have got $500, should have taken it. You would have hit the market peak.

I would say $300 to $320....Condition will bring it down a bit... slabbing will authenticate the coin... Unslabbed, you will likely get even lower offers. Cheers, RickO

no way, hold it until gold hits $10K, then it would be worth over $2K

I'm not an expert either, but this one doesn't scream fake. That said, it's worth whatever gold gravitates to between now and the time you sell it... it looks like a decent type collection. If you're not in need of cash, you might want to wait for PMs and the coin market in general to gain a little... coins, general type coins anyway, are a bit low

$500 for a Purple Heart? I don't think so. I have bought several at shows for under $20.

That number on the purple heart may not be accurate then but I understand that the value of good prices would affect value but I would have thought that the coin itself was the main monetary value depending on it's rarity.

    Except it isn't rare.

Yes, spot gold prices definitely have a large impact on common date, circulated gold piece values. You were well advised to come here and ask about the coin, and I'm glad that you did.
