This is his story on what happened, probably kicking himself that he was not more careful:
"Thanks for all the responses. I lost the gold toned Columbian the other day, probably in a taxi. Had my cell phone and coin holder in the same coat pocket. Figure when the phone rang and I pulled it out quickly, the coin fell onto the seat. I've called just about every coin store in the state and about a dozen pawn shops with a full description, including the PCGS cert#. Also filed a police report and contacted their lost and found departments in several nearby cities. It's a MS64 and looks much better in hand, Has some rainbow colors that don't show up in the photos. It's not the money, just can;t replace an original look. I'd be far less discouraged had it been a blast white MS65 or even 66 Morgan. There are millions of them out there and are easily replaceable. I called the cab company and told them the story. too. At first they were really secretive and said they could not call the driver. After speaking with the police officer, he suggested I call them back and insist on more info. When I called them back and told them what the officer had said, they gave me the cab#, told me they could not give the drivers name and still said they couldn't call him.WTF!? Some tell me I'll never see the coin again, but there's still hope, no matter how slim it may seem. If you carry holders in your pocket, make sure it has a zipper and never leave them out of sight in public places. I bought the copper toned one to try and compensate for the loss. If the lost one is returned, they'll make a nice pair!?"
Many years ago, David O'Harrow lost an early dated Durango mint 'Hand on Book' Eight Escudos in a Cab from the Mexico City airport. Dave was en route to visit Clyde Hubbard. Dave was completely shocked when he couldn't find the coin to show to Clyde. The piece was a rare date and in very nice condition.
Dave said the worse thing was that he had nightmares about the cabbie piercing the coin so he could wear it on a chain around his neck.
If the coin (in a holder ?) fell on the back bench seat of a typical taxi, it's likely location would be behind and below the seat. This is not a spot that would be examined during routine cleaning., so contacting the driver is important. Push the taxi company. Especially if they are named "Saint Anthony Taxi Co,"
Sorry to hear of the loss.... Losing a possession is always painful.... I hope the cab company can help find it... seems like they should extend the effort. Cheers, RickO

Yikes.
Cert number?
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Yes. Hopefully the Christmas spirit will prompt it to be turned in.
Good luck and pray to St. Anthony

Where?
A glimmer of hope in a unfortunate situation. @Elemint hang in there. Peace Roy

Have faith pal. I’m betting it will show up. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for ya.

That's exactly the way I feel.

Sounds like looking behind the seat might be worth it. I hope you can.
Thanks for the great news!
@Elemint
I did prayed to St. Anthony (if it's not lost then it'll be found)
That is BETTER than the fist time ..... as a Christmas present
I'm glad it turned up and that just shows how hard it is to recover lost items like that unless someone works hard to do so.
