Is this a good find? Not familiar with Jefferson Nickels, any thoughts would be appreciated.

A picture would help everyone a lot. You should be able to attach one. If not maybe it’s 10 posts.

Its very common the 1939 Jefferson, but its a fun find and a great start to assembling a circulated set, however it may not be worth much. however there are a few variety's , one is a double die reverse and that is somewhat valuable and of course they were made in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco, the Phillys are common and have no mint mark, San Francisco's are scarcer and have a "S' mintmark to the right of the building on the reverse and the Denver is considered one of the keys to the series and has a "D'" on the right of the building as well and could be worth 5 to 10 bucks maybe depending on condition, Pictures that are close and clear would be great

Happy Hunting and welcome to the boards

It is a neat find this day and age, but not valuable. Keep looking, however, as the slightly more valuable silver nickels from the 40's are still out there and worth a little more even well worn. And, if nothing else, make an interesting conversation piece. Happy hunting and good luck.

I like the early Nickels and save them all up to 1955, in any condition. Not for value, but for personal interest.

There are a lot of Jefferson nickels, and some very interesting ones as well.... the series does not get the attention it deserves (IMO) and I am not sure why. Cheers, RickO

    I save all pre-1960.
    They are easy to sell.
