1999-p aluminum quarter? Help

Found this quarter in change today
Is 1999-P lighter that a regular quarter.
Looks like aluminum. Do this had been reported before?

    check the weight, it should be 5.67 gr. or close to that. the picture looks plated. we get TeleMarketer sets all the time that we buy at face and dump into change. i think they are either chrome or Titanium plated.

    You say "lighter" - do you mean weight or color?

    It's been plated as a novelty item.

    When you get it weighed, at any
    coin store or jewelry store, it will
    weigh between 5.7 and 5.88 grams.

    the television sellers were selling complete sets of 'gold' and 'platinum' (plated) state quarters ... when people started trying to sell them, they found out it easier to just spend them :(

    Please don’t hold your coins like that. You could ruin a rare coin by putting your fingerprints on it.
