Gold toning is easier to find in Proofs, especially 1961's.

Recommend you pickup a book or two. Cherrypicker’s Guide would be a good start. What do you think?

  • Those are beautiful. Sure. Thanks. Just thought this was a place for questions. All apologies.

Yes, please do read and ask questions. There is also a QA forum here, too.

@Billylan76 ...Depending on environment, tarnish can manifest in many different colors. While we would need better pictures of your cent, it looks as if it may have been plated... People do that with coins...and also some commercial activities provide them as sales gimmicks. Cheers, RickO

  • Thank you. Its not plated im sure. I thought maybe a marker or such but it doesnt look like it was put there. But im no expert. Ill have better pics forthcoming.

Gold toning on biz strikes is kind of rare (at least from what I've seen first hand). This one might qualify.

If it was normal would we not see a lot of them? Of course it's not normal. Now, is it natural or a result of man's intervention is the real question.

No apology necessary. Willingness to learn, retain, share, rinse, dry and do it all over again. Peace Roy
