PCGS Gem Uncirculated 9-11 World Trade Center Recovery 1961 Uruguay 10 Peso STRIKE THROUGH

Technically South American rather than North American, its 9-11 WTC Recovery designation by PCGS is what makes it significant and of interest specifically to US collectors.

This is the very coin that Fred Weinberg and others agreed is a strike through error:

The 1961 Uruguay 10 peso (KM#43) peso was a 1-year type coin with a small mintage of just 3,000,000 pieces. This example was apparently one of a strange 5,000-piece hoard of this extremely specific 57-year old commemorative coin that was stored in the Comex vaults beneath the world trade center on the morning of 9-11.

This example exhibits an undulating wire strike-through ( struck-through error) between the 9 and 6 in the "1961" date. There are very few struck through examples in PCGS WTC recovery coin holders.
