1797 and 1800 half dimes

update
The 1800 cousin to the 1797 came in yesterday. This coin came from one of my favorite dealers, silicon valley rare coins (coinlieutenant). This one is CAC au55. Now I just need to photo the 1795 that he sent.

Usually these coins look a lot like a zinc Lincoln who spent a winter being plowed over in a Wisconsin parking lot

I am pretty picky when I buy coins and these small eagle half dimes dont usually come very attractive. This one fit my collection. Not a lot of luster but no distractions of note which is rare for these little coins in circulated grades
It's been a good week for early half dimes. Should have a nice 1800 to post tomorrow

In a pcgs au53 holder. I agree. Has detail of 58 but luster of a 50

    Fantastic!

Outstanding example as a type coin, difficult to imagine a finer coin without getting well into the "MS" grades, of course put in quotes because all "grades" for this type are Net grades.

Awesome strike and surfaces for a 16 star half dime. Well bought!

I definitely agree! To me, the mint luster hiding in the devices really makes it pop big time.

That one has a lot of appeal.

    Crisp, clean and original.

There's something about 18th century coinage.

    Major eye candy.

    Well played!

Sorry I got lost on this: the 1797 is AU53...the 1800 is AU55 and CAC?? What about the 1795?? Did you get all three from John @ SVC?? I like them both but love the 1800...
