Latest bar pick up......silver

Don't laugh it's almost accurately stamped. Says 5gn = 5 grains but actually measures 5.555 grains (.36 of a gram). Marked 999 fine silver. A gust of wind would take it off your desk. Dang small for sure!! No makers mark.

That is neat! Looks like it could have been made to calibrate scales.

If so, the owner of the scale was likely cheating his customer! Underweight would favor the merchant, 'eh?

I agree. So I had to calculate by how much for a troy oz.

Given: 480gn/1toz; and for every 5gn there a 0.555gn error.

    And there is 96 - 5gn sets in 480gn (480gn/5gn).

Then the total error is the number of sets mutiplied by the error (96*0.555gn).

Which results in an error of 53.28gn for every toz. Or, 0.111toz or 3.45g.

    That will add up! :o

Nope, but sure it would be really, really high. A stamp to ship is a hell of a premium!
