2 atb Roosevelt quarters with same issue.

I got both of these at gas station a few days apart. The edge on left is thick and on the top and right thin to almost gone. What causes this?

Did you acquire both specimens at the same gas station? That could be, in my opinion, the most relevant factor in determining why, as you state; "The edge on left is thick and on the top and right thin to almost gone." Also, what were the exact days that you obtained the two coins in question? For example: Did you get the first coin on a Monday, the second coin on a Thursday or Saturday? The more information you provide, the better to answer your question. The name of the cashier is NOT important. Also, in my opinion, local weather conditions are NOT
something to factor in. Unless it was unusually hot or cold for your specific location at the time you obtained The coins. The price you paid for the gas, candy, soda, beer, cigarettes, etc. you purchased may be significant, maybe not. Time for the experts to weigh in.
P.S. WELCOME ABOARD AMIGO!!!!
I'm not an expert on errors at all. But could this be a slight off center strike??
How’s the other side? It could be misaligned dies.
Got both at same place. 2 days apart I think.
The sides seem fine. The reeding is good. No protruding metal.
@Hydrant ....the gas station in question has a north south orientation. I can't remember how many pumps , but I will find out. Lol.....
As mentioned previously, misaligned die.
So slight misaligned die? I just wasn't sure what to call it. The other side of the coins seemed normal. Thanks all. Gotta head to work and stop by my lucky has station for some coffee and change .
If only one side is off, it is a misaligned die. If both are off, it is an offcenter strike.
@Hydrant .... I am still laughing... and I have read your post three time....
