Pick up Spencer Ware in your fantasy leagues if he's still out there.

I just saw the video, hard to see the entire play by play of it. I doubt the league will do anything that fast, it happened awhile ago and it will take time to piece it together, Pay the right people for info ect..

Actually after I typed that I’m now reading they sent him home? I have had Spencer Ware on my roster from the draft, maybe I will get to utilize him 🤔

Now that the video has been released, I suspect he will be suspended for the rest of the season within next week or so, Paul.

It's obviously police brutality that triggered this incident, I think they should just protest some more.

Just saw the video and I agree with Grote,Kareem is all done for the season. Had it just been that first shove he probably would have sat a few games and made it back for the playoffs but that second shove where it looked like she did a faceplant into the wall(couldn't definitely tell with her hair flying everywhere) and that kicked pretty much sealed his fate.
You would think these dumbasses would have learned by now to just walk away in these situations.

just watched the vid. in light of things we regularly discuss on this forum, i must bring this up. stating the obvious before I get started, Kareem is a badass running back who just so happens to be black.

first, he shoves a woman. then, he destroys two people out of anger, one of whom is the same woman. then, he kicks her. per what i've read, no arrests were made or charges filed. hell, this happened in February.

i can't believe i'm even posing this question, but raise your hand if you would have been arrested and your livelihood turned upside down had you pulled this stunt.....

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Jerry Jones or the Pats will sign him (though I expect the NFL to suspend him at least 8 games and probably longer).

Statement From the Kansas City Chiefs on RB Kareem Hunt

    Chiefs Public Relations

“Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt. At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.”

Wow that was quick. So is he all done for good or do you think some team will come calling if/when the NFL clears him to play again whenever that may be?
What he did was pretty heinous on a Ray Rice level, who had nothing left as a RB at the time, but Hunt did lead the NFL in rushing last season and was 5th so far this season.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,104 ✭✭✭✭✭

Congrats to the Chiefs for releasing him quickly after the video surfaced.
Going to be a huge blow for the team, but it was the right thing to do.

I wouldn't want in a NE uni after this and they just drafted Michel who looks to be a legit RB and barring injury should come very close to 1K rushing yards as a rookie while missing three games.

Kareem beating on that girl? Pete would have bet the over on how many games Kareem would get suspended for. it.

Pete knows , as do we all , never take the under on a suspension where the NFL is concerned .

I hate to see a young guy like that have his livelihood thrown away for a drunk stupid move. I don’t condone that type of behavior and I feel it is inexcusable to put your hands on a woman unless it’s to defend a life ect.. Ray Rice didn’t get banned for life so I don’t feel Hunt should. He deserves a suspension but should get a second chance. I just don’t think any team will pick him up but he is a stud so we will see

Joe Mixon is playing in the NFL so Hunt will be back late next season.

For everyone on here that claims people are "innocent" unless they are arrested by the police and found guilty in a court of law, this is exhibit 1 why that view is nonsense when it comes to sports figures or rich/famous people.

    Agree 100% with galaxy.

Looks like the woman tried pressing charges and begged the police to just watch the hotel surveillance footage and they said no because its a private hotel and the hotel manager probably wouldn't let them see it without a court order. That is some lazy ass police work if they wouldn't even just ask on her behalf.

So you're saying the Cleveland police officers took a bribe from Hunt during the scant time between the attack and this second video from that night of her pleading to the cops? I'm sure that is exactly how it went down.

Its a variation of the way say you get pulled over for speeding in your home town and get a warning but tiptoe ovefr the state line and do the same thing and you get a 900 ticket and your car gets towed.

Back when I used to drink a lot in the late 80's I was pulled over numerous times and the cops would "follow" me home and tell me to go to bed and sleep it off. That is without me knowing any particular cop involved just me being a townie.

If any type of celebrity or athlete gets involved with the police they are granted a buffer zone automatically unless they are explictly on some $hit list.

Maybe its just a case of the cops not wanting to be drawn into any sort of BS .

I see the video it doesn't hold a candle to things I've seen at any drunken party that nothing ever came of. This guy is famous , so he is in the position of being held to some higher standard and at the same time a lower standard . There is a presumption of innocence and guilt at the same time depending on who is looking to talk about it who wants to grind the axe. Team fans will say oh boys will be boys its no big deal. People outside that bubble will see it as evidence of favoritism. If hes black and is charged then the cops are racist , if he isn't charged then he is a celebrity he gets off scott free .

Human beings are complicated , ideally there should be one set of rules for everyone but that has never actually happened anywhere in history and never will.

The league is never going to try to hard to see the video , no matter the size of the mess the instinct is always to sweep it under the rug. That creates incentive for TMZ to spread money around in order to find the video and publicize it. Does TMZ or ESPN care about the girl? Nope its just about monetizing the incident.

A lot of the smoothing over is just integral to the moment. Cops talk to people at the scene and believe one side over the other at that moment and act. Whenever you later on show someone evidence that they were wrong they almost always double down on their original view , its human nature.

As far as the incident with the victim and the police goes, she didn’t have any visible injuries nor was she asking for any medical attention but in my opinion the police should have suggested to her to go directly to the police station and file a complaint and they should have confirmed they would submit a report based on her allegations, Since she assaulted Hunt by striking him in the face and could realistically be charged as well she probably didn’t want to go that route. Obviously the correct thing for Hunt would have been to walk away but being 23 and drunk and probably high is usually a recipe for making bad decisions.

Bronco, come on this has zero relevance to a speeding ticket/warning. Hunt kicked a woman while she was on the ground after he put her there and when the cop was asked to please just try to look at the videos,he wouldn't even just ask the manager for a look just to accommodate her.
Not to mention she says she tells the cop that she used her phone's camera to film part of the altercation in his apartment then Hunt took the sim card from her and they make no mention of trying to get it back for her. That's just lazy police work is all i'm trying to say.
Obviously there was a cover up but i don't think it was happening that night. It came later when the detectives got the video and did nothing with it.

Nope, I believe in giving people second chances. I would take this kid on the Pats any day. I have never hit a woman nor did I grow up in a family with domestic abuse but I do know that when I was 23 I was a punk and drank way too much and didn’t make the best decisions, been arrested a few times for minor stuff. I grew up and spent 20 years in Law Enforcement, had I not been given a second chance I wouldn’t have had that career. To tell this kid his career is over at 23 for a stupid drunken mistake is wrong. I’d prefer a career probation with a zero tolerance for any type of violent offenses. I know it’s inexcusable to hit a woman but giving her a half strength boot is not equivalent to caving her face in which he could have done. Suspend the kid for 8 games or a full season and give him one more chance. That’s the way I see it. Again Ray Rice knocked his girlfriend out and dragged her away, he didn’t get a life time ban so I don’t think this kid should. Joe Mixon smashed a woman in the face brutality and was given a second chance.

The NFL finally did something right for a change...firmly and without hesitation once the video evidence was available.

I read where that Thursday night Saints-Cowboys game was the NFL's highest rated Thursday night game ever. If they keep up running their league the way it should be run, I believe they will bring back a number of those fans they lost.

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 9,035 ✭✭✭✭✭

I did say I don't want him in NE but I'm not saying this should end his football career. Where Ray Rice was pretty much a below average RB by that point and really had nothing to offer a football team that they couldn't get from a 5th-6th round pick, Hunt is just starting out and is arguably a top 3 RB in football,he'll definitely get a 2nd chance. How many dogs did Michael Vick kill and he ended up with multiple teams in his second chance as an NFL QB.
Hunt will probably be required to go to some type of anger therapy & some type of violence against women programs and once he's done enough and shown plenty of remorse,he'll be back in football.

When you have a high profile position the rules are different for you. These guys get paid A LOT of money for what they do. Along with performance in the field comes many expectations. Being charitable in the community, not doing illegal drugs, making public appearances and not ABUSING WOMEN. He knew the rules coming in. He broke one. He has hopefully lost his ability to make a living as an NFL running back. When he signed his contract he had to put on his big boy, responsible pants, he made a choice and it was a wrong one. It will cost him dearly.

Other high profile jobs have similar expectations: CEO, Wall STreet executives etc. His life isn't over, but his NFL career should be. Now he can go back to university, get a degree and a career lik e the rest of us.

Hunt will get lawyered up, and then the lawyers will cleverly make-up a note of contrition with an apology.

They may even give Hunt some acting lessons so he can "sincerely" say the words on video.

Then after some suspension time, he will more than likely be back in the NFL.

Things we'll probably never know the answers to:
    1) Why didn't this video surface in the last 10 months during police and NFL investigations?
    3) Since nothing was done in the last 10 months, is he only (presumably) guilty due to the existence of the video?
    2) What was everyone doing there in the public hallways at 3:45 in the morning?

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,661 ✭✭✭✭✭

1- I think the Chiefs interviewed him and were satisfied with the original outcome since there were no injuries or charges. 2-Being 23 and partying 3:45AM is the standard witching hour. 3- He is guilty of assault but not guilty of Domestic Violence. And the video is enough evidence to destroy his career for now

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 9,035 ✭✭✭✭✭

Reportedly there was another incident the NFL has been investigating where Hunt punched a man in the face at an Ohio resort back in June that might add to whatever suspension time he gets.

I support The New England Patriots by rooting for them. I don’t give them any financial support or pay to see them play, and Consensus has it that “Reed” = “Hunt” And another thing a few bad apples doesn’t define the NFL or any team for that matter
