Where are you getting the $512? Looking on CoinFacts I see the last two at $420 (PCGS) and $324 (NGC) both in March. Before that, there's one at $456 and a couple at $384. Your coin has a very strong reverse although the obverse is a little funky. Looks like a solid buy.
Yea, what I real like about this coin is that the E Pluribus on the coin is not partially warn away.
@david sorry for the confusion my device was being slow, the last Aution result was $495. I saw it on PCGS coin facts
That reverse is totally hammered for the grade!! π
@david thanks for the info π I did though look at auction results of coin facts and that was the last auction, I did see many where in the 400s π
That's a nice wholesome treasure that no one has tried to "improve." Congrats!
I believe this is the page you want:

And yes, it is hard to find them with a complete motto.
Reverse looks VF.
Obverse die is in quite a late state.
Cool cracks.
Awesome surfaces!

I like it.
@david3142 thanks for the link !!!!π also just FYI I used this sight for my price guide, is it also a good source https://www.pcgs.com/auctionprices/details/1806-pointed-6-stem-ms/39327
@1peter I use PCGS auction records but if you have more references please share them with me π
Three have sold in the last 3 months besides yours for less than $400.> @markelman1125 said:
Interestingly, it looks like the $512 sale is actually the same coin that you bought for $388! That should make you feel good!
@ilikemonsters I do feel good π
Really cool coin.
heck yeah! congrats
For the prices of recent sales thrown about, I'd like to see pictures. Other coins with comparable eye appeal and interesting varieties, or run of mill "material"?

The 1806 O.121/T-29 die marriage is the end of the road for the obverse die, the last of six usages, and near die stage 4 terminal on this coin. The coin is VF30 for wear, both obv and rev. The very worn obv die appears to be uneven wear compared to the reverse, but the relative wear is the same, as the rev die is new. This is an unusual die marriage, the last of six usages for the obverse, and the first of five usages for the reverse die including three in 1807, the 29th DM out of 30 for 1806 in the emission order. The reverse has 153 dentils in an experiment to hub the dentils.
Nice coin!
@markelman1125
Nice catch and at a good price, congrats!
The grade on this coin is typical for circulated DBH with a very worn die, the TPG's will grade on the low end. I have a number of DBH's with worn dies or weak strikes that I think are graded a little low, although grades really don't matter to me - my favorite coins are still raw.
It would be interesting to get the opinion of Insider2, for how to grade a coin with one side from an extremely worn die, and the other side a new die.
The market will generally value worn dies and/or weak strikes less than full strikes of strong dies, so one could make the argument that this coin is a VF that was market graded to a choice Fine.
The OP coin is still a good buy if you like the coin - I am just rambling on about grading dilemma's with worn dies.
Nice pickup. A solid looking piece for sure, especially the reverse.

Very nice coin and for a good price.... Well done!! Bet you sleep with that under your pillow for a couple of nights....
Cheers, RickO
Do any of you think it will CAC
Very nice coin for the grade. The reverse, as others have said, is hammered.
Certainly not a "You Suck" worthy score, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers...
Cheers

Always a chance for a CAC sticker on old original coins like this. Nysoto seems to a) know what he's talking about and b) thinks it's very undergraded. I'd try.
@Wabbit2313 can you send me a link to the sight weβre you got the image?
The cert number also shows a sale for March 22nd at $512.
Wow @MorganMan94 my coin has bean everywhere
Where next?

Well This coin looks so cool I think I will be holding it tight for a wile π
This is because of the way metal flowed into the screw press right?
Kind of like CBH's being weak motto reverses?
@Azurescens it must be well struck π
As Nysoto mentioned, the reverse die was fresh, it's 1st use. This means that E PLURIBUS UNUM, which is raised on the die, had not been worn down from repeated strikes, and therefore the letters were pressed deeply into the planchet.
Liberty: Parent of Science & Industry
This is in contrast to the very worn obverse die that had seen heavy use, and was not capable of imparting the deep detail. The obverse of this coin only had EF detail at best, even right after striking when the coin was fully mint state.

@Baley thanks for the info π. Ps also is your profile photo an 1807 draped but half dollar because you collect them?
Sure, great coins. Yes, I have a collection of draped bust half dollars, the 1807 is my O-115.
