Let's just state the obvious, I really enjoyed San Antonio. First time there. The architecture is stunning all throughout the city. Simply stunning. The entrance to the hotel was a stone's throw away from the Alamo - which was a nice little treat to visit. The hotel was right on the riverwalk, neat place to walk around, had a great dinner there last night.
I flew my Dad in to help me out at the show. So we played coins and toured the city. I had a great time just hanging out with my Dad and talking coins.
The day before the show, I spent some time at US Coins in Houston with Blake and Kenny Duncan. What great people. It is nice to pick the brain of someone like Kenny who has been in the business for 82 years. Very helpful. I try to visit them as often as I can. We all drove out to San Antonio the next day for the start of the show.
I was surprised there were so many forum members in attendance! I would say more than 10 came by to say hello….felt more like an ANA.
San Antonio and the surrounding area clearly has a strong collector presence. I have been to maybe 15 or so PCGS shows the last 5 years and I would say there was as many collectors in San Antonio as there were at the other PCGS show locations. Ive noticed that in Vegas, it gets slower by 12pm on Thursday, not so in SA, it really didnt slow down until the end of the day.
We sold a few coins, bought a few coins. Business was quite brisk. There were many nice coins in the Legend sale, I was able to pick up a nice piece of early gold and several of the toned commems for the set that my Father and I are building. Very happy with that. Laura couldnt make it, I missed her! A PCGS show isn't a PCGS show without her, she is always front and center when you walk in.
The venue was great, the food solid and the people were wonderful. Congrats PCGS for trying something new - it worked!

I agree about San Antonio.
The Riverwalk is one of this country’s urban gems.

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Thanks for the show report. San Antonio around the river walk is very nice.
@SethChandler Thank you for your report it was also good to read about the surroundings, too. It has been awhile since I have been to the Alamo and Riverwalk and am glad it still impresses.
