I am new here; and, yes, I jumped right in before posting this greeting. [Also, it took me awhile to figure out where drafts are stored. I had to go through several pages of sports related posts when using the search function.]
I have been reading this forum and a few others for a long while now (some may call this lurking). The biggest obstacle that prevented me from actually signing-up and participating was reading the countless posts about educating oneself. Read the books, read the forums, seek the goog, etc. So I have and continue to do so.
Why I finally signed-up?
—many many knowledgeable people
—a lot of information buried in the threads, and now I can bookmark
—a lot of personable people
—there are questions that could not be asked just reading
When I decided to join?
—when Insider2 recently started his quiz threads and I thought to myself that it is time to start participating and educating myself though interaction
Where am I?
—currently in... “Bigger than California, New York, and Maine Combined,” TV show quote
What are my interest?
—eclectic and has no focus when it comes to this hobby
—I do not collect with the expectation of having any positive ROI, but it is a consideration
—I collect for my personal satisfaction

Was to be ~$3k but only paid out $1600 to help cover a large budget shortfall. New Gov just voted in and promises full payout next year. Still no state taxes but that can't continue unless oil prices rise. Just retired -- plan on staying but definitely will need annual escapes to warm sunny places (like those small southern states). Cheers!
